ENSEMBLES OF PAPER SCULPTURES
Drawing
Like her sculptures, Lydia Gladkova’s drawings are created in a process of building and deconstruction. She starts off the edge, then erases large areas of the rectangular space, essentially deleting the drawing; then she starts again. She keeps the structure linear and light as if it was just started and works through many iterations until an unexpected image reveals itself. All drawings are colored graphite on paper.
